What are good research sources for your articles?

In article 1 we discussed how to decide on long tail keywords to use for your article. Now we need to decide on the actual content. You may not have the inspiration, or you simply don’t know enough about the topic to write something from scratch.

So let’s take a look how you can come up with new topics to write about. There are several ways to approach this. First of all you should try Google. Type in your long tail keyword. Than select “Show options” at the top of the search results.

This gives you the opportunity to select only the most recent search results (last 24 hours or last week), so that you are not staring at the same results every week. Start with a narrow search of your long tail keyword by putting it in quotes. If that does not give you enough to go on, than repeat the search without the quotes. This normally should give you enough to write your article.

But sometimes you may not be that lucky, and Google is not the inspiration it normally is. If that is the case you can turn to social bookmarking. Open digg or delicious and search these sites for bookmarks with your long tail keyword. This almost always returns something useful.

Once you find a piece of content that is relevant and that you like, read it, and close it.

Re-write the article in your own words. Most of the time you will find yourself writing an article that is quite a bit different from the one that inspired you. Next week we will go into the actual writing of the article.
