There are still a lot of misconceptions about Twitter, stemming from the early days, where the ‘gurus’ would tell you that it is important to let people know what you are doing during the day. This is not the way to look at Twitter. Certainly not if your goal is to get unlimited traffic to your website. Twitter is a real-time search engine. If you think about Twitter this way you will soon start to see the unlimited opportunities.
People are tweeting about there needs and wants in real time. You have the opportunity to solve a problem for somebody right that same instant. It also means that you have to think about when to send out a tweet and what to tweet about. In this article I wil l only address some of the tweets that you should be sending to create a following and to show your area of expertise.
Here are 5 ways to create unlimited traffic to your website from Twitter:
- One of the best ways to get more traffic from Twitter is to post in blocks of 2-3 tweets at a time. This way your tweets will all show up in a row, making them stand out and giving you more exposure.Keep in mind of course that each of these tweets needs to be high-value. With your last tweet being the most important (because that’s the one that’s going to show up on top and get the most clicks).By creating a small block of tweets, you will stand out in the Twitter stream.
- Another quick way to get more clicks on your tweets is to label them: VIDEO, FREE PDF, NEW BLOG POST, etc. so people know what type of content you are talking about.
- Use repeat tweets, both your own and other peoples, as long as the content is high quality. You should re-tweet your own content 3-4 times using different time zones each time. This way your message will be exposed to a new audience each time. Remember that we are talking real time search here, so time of posting is important.
- Post during peak times which is 11am – 3pm EST, evenings after 6pm. Just know that Sunday is the least active day on Twitter.
- Post quotes, just not the quotes from famous people. I don’t know about you but I am getting tired of all theses quotes. They scream at you, that this person does not know what to tweet about. No, what I am talking about is tweet quotes from your own blog posts or articles, with a link to that piece of content.
Did you notice that it is important when you are sending your tweets, all because you are dealing with a real time platform? In Google it does not matter at what time your site gets indexed, but in Twitter everything happens in the ‘now’. This requires a different mindset, but as soon as you get used to it, you will start to realize the enormous potential.
What are your tweeting habits and are they bringing you traffic. Share your stories as a comment so we can all learn from them.
