Google Friend Connect is a widget that adds all aspects of social media sites to a regular website or blog. You can invite others to join your network. As long as they have a profile on another social media site, you can simply send them an invite from within Google Friend Connect. By inviting people with similar interests you are creating a network of like minded people, the “friends” of your website. Take a look in the middle column of this blog and you will see the widget in action.
If you encourage the visitors to your site to add your friends to their own GFC and to develop a relationship with them, you will very quickly create a large network of like minded people in your niche.
The nice thing about GFC is that it is very easy to communicate with those that are a part of your network. A simple comment to one of your members may create a dialogue with in your network that will help to build a relationship that is far beyond what you can achieve by sending out emails and hoping for a response.
If you realize that people are much more inclined to work with people they know and trust than with complete strangers it becomes clear that the power of GFC can be far stretching. If you can manage to have the communication take place on your site, it will mean more traffic and increased popularity for your website.
